Food sector faces mergers and acquisitions (Eesti Päevaleht, in Estonian)

Leaders in the Estonian food sector believe that in the next two years western companies will enter their market, Estonian food brands will be weakened and smaller companies will go out of business.

Aare Tammemäe, the Member of Management Board of Redgate Capital states that during crises there are no good examples of well-organized mergers and acquisitions. Transactions are forced on the companies. Companies with large debts face the biggest danger.

The picture will change. Besides the large western food companies that want to enter the market, there are also funds of Scandinavian-European origin that have taken an interest in our market. Still, we cannot say that investors are standing in line to move in; they are still waiting for more stability in the region.
